Prevtec microbia is a spin-off company of the Reference Laboratory for Escherichia coli (EcL) of the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire at the Université de Montréal. The company's two founding scientists, Dr. Fairbrother and Dr. Nadeau both hold PhDs in veterinary medicine and are experienced researchers in the field of veterinary microbiology.

The backbone of the company’s innovation strategy is continuous research and development aimed at improving both health and performance in animal production and food safety for humans.

The various technologies in the Prevtec microbia development pipeline originate from basic and applied research at EcL, as well as from collaborations with other renowned researchers. These strong relationships give Prevtec microbia access to innovative and scientifically sound technologies and multidisciplinary expertise. They also provide a global watch on leading edge technologies, veterinary diseases and infections, and the evolving needs of veterinarians and producers.
